A few products Garry recommends
VyKare is independent, so the products on this page weren't chosen because a carrier asked. They're here because they tend to fit the people Garry helps most often. Always reviewed against your situation, never sold off the shelf.
Pacific Horizon IUL 2
Flexible-premium indexed universal life insurance. A permanent policy with a tax-free death benefit, plus cash value that can grow with market indexes while being protected from index-based losses.
Downside protection
Indexed accounts have guaranteed minimum interest rates. Cash value isn't reduced by index-based losses, only by policy charges and any distributions you take.
Upside potential
Allocate to one-year or multi-year indexed accounts for growth tied to market indexes, with the option of a Fixed Account at a declared rate.
Living benefits
Optional riders for chronic illness, long-term care, and accelerated death benefits so the policy can help while you're still here.
How it can serve a Seniorhood plan
- A tax-free death benefit to replace income, cover estate taxes, or leave a legacy.
- Cash value that can be accessed tax-free through loans and withdrawals to supplement retirement income.
- Protection from prolonged market downturns through guaranteed minimum crediting rates.
- Chronic-illness and long-term-care riders that turn a death benefit into a living benefit if health changes.
- Useful in business planning, including buy-sell agreements and executive retention plans.
Three choices you'll make
1. Coverage design
Enhanced Early Surrender Value, Balanced, or Long-Term Performance. Picked at issue, not changed later.
2. Growth strategy
Mix the Fixed Account (declared rate, guaranteed minimum 1%) with one or more indexed accounts.
3. Optional riders
Extend the no-lapse guarantee, add enhanced growth-potential riders, or layer in living-benefit riders.
Good to know. IUL is permanent coverage that requires ongoing premium payments. Cash value is reduced by policy charges and any distributions, and loans or withdrawals can reduce the death benefit. A personalized illustration is the right way to see how the policy performs for your situation, age, and goals. Pair this page with the deeper Universal Life with Living Benefits guide.
Medicare path
Fenyx Health Group MSA
A Medicare Advantage Medical Savings Account plan that combines high-deductible coverage with an IRS-approved bank account funded by Medicare each year. You decide whether to spend the deposit, save it, or invest it.
$0 premium, annual deposit
By law, MSA member premium is $0. Medicare deposits cash into your special account at the start of each plan year.
Unused funds roll over
Money you don't spend stays in the account and grows tax-free when used for IRS-qualified medical expenses.
Nationwide access, no referrals
No network restrictions, no prior authorizations, no referrals. Any Medicare provider who agrees to bill the plan.
How the three pieces work together
- Deductible, the maximum you'd pay before the plan covers 100% of Part A and B services.
- Deposit, the annual cash from Medicare into your MSA account, usually within the first few business days of your effective month.
- Out-of-pocket difference, the deductible minus the deposit. You can apply the deposit toward care, or pay out of pocket and let the deposit grow.
Worth thinking about
- MSAs don't include drug coverage. You pair it with a standalone Part D Prescription Drug Plan.
- Enrollment is on a full calendar-year basis, with annual change windows.
- Best fit for people who want control over how their Medicare dollars are spent and saved.
- Compare carefully against Medigap and a traditional Medicare Advantage plan before deciding.
Coverage gap
UnitedHealthcare AdvantageGuard
A hospital indemnity plan that pays fixed cash benefits when you're admitted to the hospital or use other eligible services. Designed to complement Medicare or another health plan, not replace it.
Cash on admission
Inpatient hospital stays for sickness or injury, hospital observation periods, and mental or nervous disorder stays are all covered.
Optional benefit riders
Add coverage for cancer, outpatient prescription drugs, ER and urgent care, skilled nursing, outpatient surgery, ambulance, and wellness visits.
Use it however you need
Benefits are paid regardless of other insurance and regardless of actual expenses. You decide what to do with the cash.
- Available for issue ages 60 through 90.
- Renewable for life as outlined in the policy.
- No network restrictions for the indemnity benefit.
- Underwritten by Golden Rule Insurance Company.
This is a Hospital Indemnity policy and provides limited benefits. It is not a Medicare supplement and is not a substitute for comprehensive health insurance. Preexisting conditions and waiting periods may apply to some optional riders. Availability varies by state.
